It began innocently enough with a handwritten thank-you note tossed, almost thoughtlessly, into a basket. But over time, it grew into an intentional effort to preserve a record of uncommon thoughtfulness and generosity. “We have a big basket in the living room,” explains Carl, “and we get [notes] and I make sure they have what year on them and I throw them in that basket. I never throw a thank-you note away. When I don’t get thank you notes, I know I’m not doing enough.”

Carl Wenger, originally a dedicated farmer, stumbled into the farm equipment business by accident. What started as a simple purchase of a second manure spreader turned into a pattern of buying, selling, and trading equipment. As he continued making deals, Carl ended up with a collection of used spreaders and realized he was effectively in business.

Diesel Engine Project Revs Up for BASH Students

The Tech R&D: Engineering class here at BASH was able to start the diesel engine that they have been working on all year. The students were very excited to see it run. This project began in 2019 but was hindered by COVID in 2020 and the lack of in-person learners in 2021. That means that this year's class had to finish something that was started three years ago without access to any of the previous students for advice or answers to questions.
